As the Director of Digital Marketing, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of our digital marketing practice end to end. You will lead a distributed team of digital strategists, performance marketers, and channel specialists to deliver integrated, data-driven campaigns across paid search, paid social, programmatic, SEO, content, CRM, email, and emerging channels. Working hand in hand with senior client leadership and creative partners, you will translate ambitious business goals into measurable digital outcomes — protecting margin, fueling growth, and pushing the agency forward in the AI-driven media era.
This is a fully remote role open to candidates globally. You will set the standards for quality, performance, and innovation across our digital portfolio, mentor the next generation of digital leaders, and represent the agency in new business pitches and senior client conversations. You bring a proven track record of scaling digital programs, a sharp commercial mindset, and the curiosity to keep learning in a fast-moving landscape. Your remit will span the full digital funnel — from awareness to retention — and you will be expected to bring fresh thinking on automation, measurement, and the responsible use of AI in marketing.
Key Deliverables:
PEOPLE
- Leads, mentors, and grows a distributed team of digital strategists, performance marketers, and channel specialists across multiple time zones
- Sets a high bar for craft, accountability, and inclusive leadership in a fully remote environment
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships with creative, strategy, analytics, investment, and client teams to deliver integrated digital outcomes
- Champions continuous learning, certification, and career development for digital talent across the agency
PARTNERS
- Acts as the senior digital marketing partner for key client accounts, owning the digital roadmap and quarterly business reviews
- Builds and maintains executive-level relationships with platform partners (Google, Meta, TikTok, The Trade Desk, Amazon Ads, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Represents the digital practice in new business pitches, RFPs, and industry forums
- Translates client business problems into digital marketing solutions that are commercially sound and creatively ambitious
PRODUCT
- Owns the end-to-end digital strategy across paid search, paid social, programmatic, SEO, content, CRM, email, and emerging channels
- Defines measurement frameworks, KPIs, and attribution models that connect digital activity to business outcomes
- Drives the adoption of AI, automation, and WPP Open tools to scale personalisation and improve campaign performance
- Ensures quality, brand safety, and timely delivery across all digital work, with a relentless focus on testing and optimisation
PROFIT
- Owns the P&L of the digital marketing practice, including revenue growth, margin, utilisation, and forecasting
- Identifies and converts organic growth opportunities within existing accounts and supports new business wins
- Negotiates scopes, SOWs, and commercial terms with clients alongside Client Leadership
- Manages digital media investment with a sharp eye on ROI, efficiency, and value back to the client

- Team engagement, retention, and promotion rates within the digital practice
- 360° feedback from peers, direct reports, and senior leadership
Partners
- Client satisfaction (CSAT/NPS) and renewal rates on key digital accounts
- Strength of platform partnerships, including beta access and co-marketing opportunities
Product
- Campaign performance against agreed KPIs (ROAS, CAC, CPL, CTR, conversion rate, share of voice)
- Adoption of AI, automation, and measurement frameworks across the digital portfolio
Profit
- Digital practice revenue, margin, and year-on-year growth
- Pipeline conversion and win rate on new business opportunities

Knowledge and skills
- 10+ years of digital marketing experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership or director-level role at an agency, consultancy, or in-house marketing team
- Proven track record of building and scaling digital marketing programs across paid search, paid social, programmatic, SEO, content, CRM, and email
- Deep expertise across major platforms — Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, The Trade Desk, DV360, Amazon Ads, GA4, Adobe Analytics, and modern MMP/attribution stacks
- Strong commercial fluency: P&L ownership, forecasting, scoping, and pricing of digital services
- Hands-on understanding of measurement, experimentation, MMM, incrementality, and privacy-first marketing in a post-cookie world
- Practical experience applying AI and automation to campaign planning, creative production, and optimisation
- Track record of successfully leading distributed, fully remote teams across regions and time zones
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field; an MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional languages are a bonus given the global, remote nature of the role
